FAQs
How many nappies do I need?
The number of nappies you will go through will vary with your child’s age. It will also depend on how frequently you intend to wash them.
For full time use, we recommend 20-30 nappies. This allows time for washing, drying and preparing your nappies. For part time use, we recommend around 12 nappies to allow 2 to 3 days’ worth.
Remember, just one cloth nappy a day will save 365 disposables a year.
What size do your nappies come in?
Our nappies are one size fits most, designed to fit from newborn to toilet training. They are designed to snap down to a newborn size using just the smaller insert, or for a toddler fully unsnapped with your choice of insert combination. Our nappy is a trim fit which is particularly beneficial for petite babies or those with skinny legs to ensure a snug fit.
What is included with your nappy?
Our nappies are an all-in-two pocket design with dual inserts. With every nappy purchase you receive the following:
- Nappy outer shell with pocket (for inserts)
- 1 x Hemp Insert (newborn size)
- 1 x Bamboo Terry (long insert)
The inserts can be used separately or together, depending on your child’s needs. They can be adjusted to suit boys or girls.
How often to I need to change a cloth nappy?
The same recommendation on nappy changing applies to cloth nappies as it does disposables. It is recommended that you change your baby’s nappy every 2-3 hours or more frequently as-needed (eg, if the nappy is soiled). Cloth nappies are suitable for night nappies if the absorbency is right for your child and does not need to be changed more frequently.
Can I use barrier cream with cloth nappies?
Yes, barrier creams can be used effectively with cloth nappies. You will need to ensure that you have an adequate wash routine with hot water (40-60 degrees) to ensure there is no build up in your nappies.
What do I do with the poo?
Yes – we get it! It is the biggest question of all. Simple, you pop it in the toilet where it belongs. If you are out and about and are not close to a toilet, you can wrap-and-snap your nappy to ensure the contents are contained and pop it in your wet bag until you are home.
For newborns who are exclusively breastfed, their poo is fully water-soluble. That means the nappy doesn’t need to be pre-cleaned and can go straight into the wash. Following an adequate wash routine these nappies will come out clean and fresh.
